Four Decades Ago

In this week’s episode, we take a look at a part in history many people have heard of but know very little about The AIDS Crisis.

The AIDS crisis has impacted thousands of individuals, especially in the LGBTQ+ community, and continues to do so to this day, but we hear so little about it due to the fear it instilled in people around the LGBTQ+ community. As we take a look at this time in history we look through the lens of pop culture, activism, and science in order to not only deepen our understanding of the epidemic itself but also its effect on the LGBTQ+ community. We explore the way the world viewed the disease at its initial spread, the influence of media on the spread of awareness, the activism held to support those with AIDS and in the LGBTQ+ community, and the ongoing effect of the disease today in regards to infection.

If we have ignorance we are blind to what can come. Until the disease dissipates, this is our normal; however, we must find stability and in a sense our way back to normal.
